With the weather warming up and summer vacation right around the corner, we know that the last thing you and your family want to do is make a visit to the pediatrician’s office. However, the late spring and early summer months may actually be the best times to schedule your child’s next annual well child check-up. In many cases, a complete medical physical is required before a child begins a school year or goes away to summer camp. Trying to squeeze these important examinations in at the last minute can cause you stress and anxiety and might not give you sufficient time to deal with any health issues that arise. Fortunately, Dr. Ray Deeb, Dr. Ashley Brown, and the entire friendly staff at Briarcliff Pediatrics will be here all summer to provide your child with the care and attention that they need.
Most new parents quickly learn the recommended schedule of diagnostic check-ups and necessary vaccinations for infants and toddlers, but some forget that the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) also recommends that children undergo well child visits every year between the ages of three and eighteen as well. During these examinations, we do more than just check your child for obvious health concerns. We also plot growth curves for height and weight, and monitor blood pressure, pulse, and BMI. We check your child’s heart, lungs, lymph nodes, abdomen, skin, eyes, ears, nose, and throat, evaluate your child’s vision, joints, muscles, and spine, and discuss with you the medical history of your child and your family. This thorough and comprehensive approach helps us to recognize any subtle changes before you might notice them, and allows us to catch and address serious conditions in the early stages, before they have a chance to do lasting harm. Moreover, the Briarcliff Pediatrics providers also go a step further by providing helpful educational resources and discussing various age-specific issues, including topics like self-image, anxiety, school performance, safety driving, and safe internet use. We understand that being a parent can sometimes be overwhelming, and having easy access to the most current well-documented information can go a long way towards making you feel confident and secure.
So whether your child needs a physical for summer sports or camp or you just want to get an important task out of the way before the storm of activity at the end of August, at Briarcliff Pediatrics we’ve got you covered. If you are interested in learning more about us, you are welcome to come in for a complimentary meet and greet so that you can talk in person with Dr. Deeb or Dr. Brown and get a tour of our newly renovated office.
